ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

There's room at this inn

Marriott is a leading company in the hotel industry, with nearly 3,000 hotels (that's 535,000 rooms) in almost 70 different countries. Marriott only owns a handful of these properties; all the rest are franchises. The company's brands cover nearly every segment of the market, from upscale to budget. These include Marriott (upscale), luxury (JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton), all-suites (SpringHill Suites), extended-stay (Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites), mid-market (Renaissance and Courtyard) and budget-conscious (Fairfield Inns). Marriott also has a joint partnership with the Italian luxury company Bulgari to operate Bulgari-branded resorts in Bali and Milan.

SURVEY SAYS

Diverse and engaged

While sources report that culture varies between locations, one satisfied insider notes that "The workforce is one of the most engaged workforces that I have been a part of." "Working at corporate headquarters is great," a colleague concurs. "Co-workers are easy to work with and there is a team atmosphere. [It's a] very diverse group of people." Interns at the company can be assured that they won't be spending time in front of the copier. "Interns here are regarded as associates who are capable of undertaking more work because they are, in theory, going to be entering the industry at a management level upon graduating from college," explains one program veteran.
