Founded in Nashville in 1984, Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain ranked No. 54 on Accounting Today’s 2008 list of the largest U.S. accounting firms by revenue. Its offerings include accounting and assurance, risk, tax, planning, health care services, mergers and acquisitions, valuation and litigation support. Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain is a member of the Leading Edge Alliance, an international network of more than 100 independent CPA firms in 50 countries worldwide.

Founded as an accounting company by Jim Lattimore, Charles Black, David Morgan and Mike Cain, LBMC is now made up of eight operating companies: Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain PC, LBMC Technologies, LBMC Employment Partners, LBMC Strategic Staffing, LBMC Investment Advisors, LBMC Healthcare Group, LBMC eHealth Solutions and LBMC Planning Services. With approximately 400 employees and four offices in Tennessee, LBMC is one of the state’s fastest growing professional services companies. Not enough superlatives

The firm features “fantastic people,” “a great work environment” and a “nice work/life balance.” “Our people make this a great place to work,” summarizes one insider. Hours “average about 60 per week during the busy season” and “about 45 per week during the remainder of the year,” insiders say. Though “weekends are generally worked during the busy season,” it’s “not likely that you have to work weekends during the remainder of the year.”

The firm also scores points for its training programs, which “begin at the staff level and continue throughout the organization.” LBMC offers “specialized training in-house, but also uses outside CPE.” In addition, the “business casual” dress code also gets accolades from insiders.
