Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP, whose motto is “passion works here,” is the largest locally owned accounting and advisory firm in Northern California. It has offices in San Jose, San Francisco, Palo Alto, and St. Helena, California as well as a satellite office in New York City. In its latest fiscal year, tax services made up the biggest chunk of the firm’s earnings, bringing in over 60 percent of its $49 million in revenues; audit and assurance made up nearly 30 percent, while advisory and other services contributed the balance. Most of Frank, Rimerman’s corporate clients are involved in real estate, professional services, venture capital, distribution, and agriculture. Thanks to its presence in Silicon Valley, the firm also counts a number of high-tech startups and growing companies among its clients. The firm’s roots go back to 1949 when a pair of Franks—Frank Rimerman and Robert Frank—founded the firm. When Rimerman retired, his son Thomas took over as managing partner. In 2000, Tom Rimerman stepped down and Bryan Polster took the reins. Besides being managing partner, Polster sits on the advisory council of Baker Tilly International and the boards of several companies. He’s a former member of the AICPA Governing Council and former board member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA). Frank, Rimerman has three subsidiaries. Frank, Rimerman Consulting stays busy in Silicon Valley, offering technology consulting services to fast-growth companies. Frank, Rimerman Advisors LLC serves affluent individuals, offering customized financial advice and investment management services. And since Northern California is synonymous with the fruit of the vine, Frank, Rimerman operates a wine business services practice, providing CPA services, market research, and business and financial advisory to premium wineries throughout the country.
