Billing itself as being “positively unique,” Dixon Hughes Goodman is the largest accounting firm headquartered in the South and the 15th-largest in the nation by revenue, according to Accounting Today’s 2013 rankings. In its latest reported fiscal year, Dixon Hughes Goodman booked $280 million in revenues. Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., the firm has 30 offices, primarily located in the South and Mid-Atlantic and employs a staff of over 1,700, including 250 partners. Ken Hughes is the current CEO of Dixon Hughes Goodman, and the current incarnation of the firm began in 2004 when Dixon Odom PLLC merged with Crisp Hughes Evans LLP. Seven years later, in early 2011, the firm, then known as Dixon Hughes PLLC, merged with fellow southern accountant Goodman & Company. Goodman was a firm with roots dating to 1932; it had approximately 500 employees and was one of the top 35 accounting firms, by revenue, in the U.S. at the time of the merger. Today, the firm provides its clients with a full range of audit, tax, assurance, consulting, and advisory services. It is a member of the international professional services association Praxity, which includes member firms with more than $3.7 billion in annual revenues.
