One of the largest drug-testing firms in America, Princeton-based Covance runs drug trials for some of the largest pharmaceutical companies. It provides early-stage and late-stage product development services worldwide. The contract research organization (CRO) is an expert in toxicology, bionanalysis, drug safety and laboratory trial services. It is also, through its dealings with clients like Pfizer and Eli Lilly, involved in developing some of the most high-profile medications soon to be on the market. Recognized as a company that works well with its clients by Frost & Sullivan (they cited Covance for Customer Value and Market Leadership in 2006), the firm has nearly 12 percent of the $6 billion CRO market wrapped up. By the end of 2008, Covance had served more than 300 biopharmaceutical companies, and in 2009, maintained operations in more than 25 countries, with some 10,000 employees worldwide.

By going to Covance’s careers site, prospective employees can follow links to a detailed description of the job search process, a job search engine and a resume database. Hiring at Covance draws on that database in addition to specifically directed applications, that is, applicants can submit a resume without applying for a specific job and have their resume searched by recruiters when openings arise. Applicants who wish to submit resumes for specific jobs can do so through the job search function which filters opportunities by department and location.
