Berdon LLP, a full-service accounting and advisory firm, has earned its New York street cred by representing some of the biggest companies in the Big Apple over the past 90 years. The firm serves a variety of clients, including some of the nation’s premier family-owned real estate companies, international law firms, and noted figures in the arts and entertainment industry. In 2013, Berdon ranked No. 30 on Accounting Today’s Top 100 Firms list, with more than $97 million in annual revenue. The company was founded in 1917 by David Berdon, who advised clients with a total financial picture in mind, weighing accounting, tax, business, economic, family, and sector-specific factors, among others. Using this approach, the firm expanded through the Great Depression, adding insolvencies and a litigation support group to its practice. By the 1990s, Berdon had diversified across a range of business sectors, including law firms, closely held businesses, and entertainment, advertising, architecture, and engineering/construction firms. Berdon also developed several service specializations, including state and local tax, trust and estate planning, business valuation and damage calculations, and succession planning, to name a few. Today, the firm employs nearly 400 people, including 39 partners, many of which have multiple, advanced degrees and certifications (J.D., LL.M., C.F.E., P.F.S.) beyond C.P.A. Berdon has offices in Midtown Manhattan and Jericho, Long Island.
