ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

Mixed tapes, diapers and so much more

If BASF Group were a country, its massive 2008 earnings of $87.8 billion would put it in the World Bank’s list of top 60 nations in the world by GDP.  Adopting the tagline “The Chemical Company” (note the definite article; there’s a sort of unseen italic implied) is the largest manufacturer of chemicals in the world.  BASF’s output can be broken down into six major segments: chemicals, plastics, performance products (everything from car components to diapers and cassette tapes), oil and gas, functional solutions and gas agricultural solutions.  Those six segments are each distributed over four major geographic areas: North America, Europe, Asia and the single geopolitical zone that is South America, Africa and the Middle East.
