Allen Matkins SURVEY SAYS

Survey Says
Most of our contacts find Allen Matkins "an enjoyable place to work." "The quality of work is high," says a San Diego associate, "and the partners are generally accommodating." According to an L.A. lawyer, "The work is interesting and diverse, and the firm encourages first-year associates to ask questions." Associates also enjoy a sense of camaraderie. "The lawyers in our office surf, play golf and hang out together on a regular basis," says one Orange County associate. A San Diego attorney summarizes the scene in two words: "fraternity house." In Los Angeles, things are "professional and casual at the same time."

Partners appreciate that attorneys have lives outside the office. As one associate reports, "While there are times the work needs to get done (they are paying me after all), I have been able to take days off as needed and work outside events into my work day as well with full cooperation of partners." "Although work is often busy," notes another associate, "in most cases quality work can be completed with full weekdays without ridiculous evening work. I find most weekends are free unless you need or want to work to increase hours loads."
