ABOUT THIS COMPANY:

The low down on AOL

Once just an Internet access provider, AOL was previously known as America Online.  Today, AOL is about more than just getting people online. Previously owned by media and communications behemoth Time Warner, AOL is currently in the process of reinventing itself as "a leading global advertising-supported Web company, with the most comprehensive display advertising network in the U.S." AOL provides its customers with a plethora of services, including information on sports, stocks, news and weather, chat groups, city guides and online shopping.

SURVEY SAYS

A high-pressure place to work

One AOL insider says the company is a "good place to work if you can handle the pressure." Sources describe the dress code as "very casual" and "relaxed unless a meeting was scheduled." One contact mentions that "work is fast-paced in a constantly changing business, at times in crisis mode." Insiders also feel AOL is excellent when it comes to diversity initiatives. One contact says, "people from all cultures are there, working very closely together." The benefits are excellent, and a former executive mentions getting a car allowance and a Thanksgiving turkey.
