Vault's Scoop
ABOUT THIS COMPANY:
Pretty big, huh!ABB is a giant in the world of power and automation technologies, the two businesses at the core of the company’s existence which are further subdivided into smaller business units. ABB’s approximately 120,000 staff develops technologies that help its customers increase their performance while decreasing their energy use and environmental impact. Its products and systems offerings pull in the majority of the company’s earnings. On the more interesting automation side, most of its revenue contribution is drawn from automation products and processes. Furthermore, ABB has a third offering— robots! Establishing leadership in the robotics industry, the company has gained revenue of more than $1.2 billion from its robotics division alone. It has produced 150,000 robots that do jobs humans won’t, can’t, or cost more to perform like assembling, painting and finishing all types of products. Additionally, ABB has developed the software that runs them and has bolted them to the floor.
