I'm looking to parlay my unique business experience into a Management Consultant position- 
Please tell me how successful you think I'd be in doing so, based on my background!
 
My background:
I graduated from a good school (one notch under Ivy League) at the age of 20, in 3 years instead of 4, with a BA in Business Economics. 
About six months later, I took on my first corporate position, at a mid-sized, 40 year old firm specializing in recruitment services. 
My intentions of starting here were not necessarily to excel in the Sales role I was hired for, but to analyze the business for which I'd work, and to formulate and present my profit-bearing to the most senior management, in hopes of gaining merit. 

Here is my list of accomplishments at the firm:
- Broke several sales records within the first 6 months of my arrival, as a rookie (doesn't tie into how I'd be a good consultant, but speaks to my intelligence and work-ethic). 
- MORE IMPORTANTLY: After conducting backbreaking analysis/analytics, I've formulated dozens of meritable ideas for almost every of aspect of the business, which have been hailed by the CEO and top management as valuable, and more importantly, which management are beginning to (or already have) implement- and which our company is seeing an immediate return on. These changes will and have, by management's own admission, increased the company's profit margin substantially. 

So, given my background and accomplishments, how easy do you think it would be for me to transition directly into a management consultant role?

Will I still have to attend B-School to get a job as a management consultant, given the fact that the work I've be doing is basically that of a management consultant (and I've been successful)?
 
Also, I'm 22 years old, turning 23 in a few months.

Let me know the feasibility of my goal to transition directly into a Manag. Consultant!

Hi, I'm a freshman in highschool, and I'm thinking about opening up a new firm with a partner when i come of age. Do you have any advise on what classes would be the most beneficial both for highschool and my undergraduate years of collage?

I am a graduate fresher,BE, holding 2 offers . One is @Tech Mahindra (got on campus) and other is Capgemini (through off campus).
CG has given me joining but TechM has not given me joining till now ,they may call me in few months. Salary offerred by CG is 2.4L pa and techM is 3.07L pa. 
 CG has offered me to work in SAP(non-functional) service line but they'll not provide me any clasroom training, still i'll have to manage the work .
TechM will give me 3 months training and then domain will be provided as per requirement.
Now suggest me where to join.I want to choose among the two.

What did you go to school for and were you able to find work after you got your degree

I want responses from people who went back to school so they could quit there job and start a new career. how old were you and what did you go to college for ?

I decided to join and make this discussion thread to hopefully gain some opinions from others. I am a 28 y/o IT professional with my BS in MIS (graduated in 2010) and MS in IT (graduated in 2012. These degrees were obtained from Universities, not community colleges or anything of that nature. I currently do not carry any certifications, as I opted for the MS first over the certifications. I will say that I am less of a programmer IT guy, and more of an 'anything else' IT guy. Programming is the last of my interests/skills.

I currently work at a HQ technology team for a corporation as a support tech. My pay started at slightly under $25,000/year about 2 years ago; starting as a temp. I was hired on and given a pay increase of $.01 ... yes ... ONE PENNY.

In two years, my pay has only increased by $.73 ... yes 73 CENTS!

There is literally no room for growth, as they only promote within when a position opens, and they promote/pay based of seniority ... NOT performance.


Needless to say, it's a very discouraging professional environment. I don't see any reason to stay, and the pay is ridiculous. I took this position to gain experience, as I had the academic background, and needed experience to move up in my career path.


And now I can't seem to escape. I've been applying like a mad man. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I am a very valuable asset to any IT organization. I work extremely hard, I'm very professional, and I can learn anything at a very quick pace. It seems I just can't get my foot in the door anywhere!

I know certifications are next in line, but I'm having doubts in simply working within the IT world.

Any suggestions/opinions/experiences to share?

Hi,
I am looking for a job and thought my CPA license would open some doors for me. I am finding out that CPA without public accounting experience is basically useless in being considered for other jobs because they all require public accounting. I am in my 30's. Should I try to find open positions at public accounting firms ( not BIG 4 ) to get that experience? Or the chance of being considered is pretty low since I am not a fresh graduate? Or should I seriously consider pursuing Masters in Accounting?

I am in stage two of interviews at Accenture and Deloitte for management consulting manager roles. I am reluctant to ask this from interviewers so I chose to ask here:

What are the desk policies at both firms? What is the home-office culture like (New York/DC Metro Area) for both firms?

I have heard about Accenture's consultants not having a permanent desk, but rather renting out office spaces by the hour at the home office when they return from client sites on Fridays.

What's Deloitte like in this regard?

How are the "co-workers" in terms of culture? supportive, friendly - or competitive, shady?

I am just now venturing out into the world of personal shopping, but I am quickly getting the lay of the land. I am surprised by the lack of courses mentioned and topic threads discussing image consulting. I wonder if someone has a few suggestions on personal stylist training or image consultant training?

I was thinking about trying out Sterling Style Academy for a personal stylist course to boost my skills.

I have been viewing the postings and responses for several months now and have not seen a situation quite like mine detailed in the forum.  Based on the responses that I have read, there seems to be a reasonable amount of intelligence out there to be useful to answer my questions.  All I am asking is useful feedback, suggestions, advice, guidance, tips, tricks, etc.  If you want to criticize my logic, past actions, current situation, etc. I do/have done that every morning when I look in the mirror.  No need to pile on at this point.  What I am looking for is any suggestion large or small, legal or otherwise to get an interview.

I agree that networking is the best way to obtain job opening leads and get a job.  However, right now I do not have the time or resources to initiate long term networking activities which would result in the �perfect job� a year from now.  I interview well (when that opportunity presents itself) and can hold my own with positive, productive examples of my efforts.  However, it appears that will not do any good if I cannot obtain a face-to-face to be able to illustrate my skills. I need suggestions on how to get into the top 10 applicants so that I can get in the game,  As it is, I am standing outside the stadium, behind the barricades, in the parking lot, on the other side of the tailgaters, begging for a ticket.  

In short, I have done everything the so-called �experts� have advocated, played by the rules, and short of offering to work for free for the rest of my life, have met with no positive results.  Any suggestions?

 i hear all kinds of stories regarding employees pushed to sell products at Dollar Rent a Car.
  Is it true employees have to up sell in order to keep jobs? Is it true employees are encouraged  to up sell by any means necessary? What really goes on regarding the sale of LDW etc?????
