Hello everyone. My name is Tanya and I am a student seeking my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Human Services. I am a freshman at Argosy with dreams of opening my own (or being a part of another) homeless or domestic violence shelter. I need advice on where to go from here. I have a very sporadic work history and am currently caring for an elderly lady working full time hours with part time pay because I am helping family. I have got to find a job to provide a better life for my family while remaining in school full time. I do not know where to begin. I would like to find something that may help me network to future career possibilities, but I really don't know how or where to begin. After receiving my Bachelor's degree, I know I am atleast going to go for my Master's in Psychololgy. I would love working with men, women and children who have suffered from abuse as that is my passion. 
My biggest obstacle to overcome seeking employment is my children have a lot of doctors appointments and they both have asthma. I don't have anyone to help me take them to their appointments or to be at home with them when they are ill. My daughter missed so much school this year that I was almost reviewed by the school board. She was hospitalized four times beginning in November and ending in February. She is 10 years old and my son is 14. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Considering that by definition, itâ??s statistically impossible for more than 50% percent to be above-average, there are a few people out there overestimating their driving skills.

Along the same lines, if you ask any consulting manager about their personnel, he or she will tell you that they only hire the best and the brightest.

I suppose thatâ??s possible if you consider that â??best and the brightestâ?? is a judgment call. If you declare that this is the team you want and wouldnâ??t change a thing, who am I to argue?

I'm in need of some career advice.  

I'm 24 and I have a bachelors in accounting.  After graduating, I've been working as a staff accountant for a small distribution company and I've been there for 2 years.  I don't like the position and I feel as if I haven't learned much of anything about accounting.  And I'm seriously starting to think accounting isn't for me.  

With that said, I've started looking for new staff accounting jobs.  1) that's my degree after all, 2) i have bills/loans to pay, and 3)i feel as if I should give it another shot, perhaps working with a new company will renew any interest (i hate my current company that much).  

I've been on a couple interviews recently and I think they went well.  But they were just 1st round interviews.  Where I'm getting at is, I'm nervous about going to a new job.  I feel as if I'd be lost and wouldn't know where to start.  both jobs seem to be very independent and id be responsible for closing month end, etc...  and i don't know if i can do it.  

some advice would be much appreciated.  thank you.  

I've got an interview from Credit Risk Management and Advisory for analyst position in Goldman Sachs.
Does anyone know anything about this group? It says this group houses both risk management for s&t and risk advisory for ibd. Do I need to know a lot about the debt market?

Could you please give me any ideas of answering why credit advisory? Why credit over equity?

I am not from MA nor working in an insurance/financial field. My friends and I have never heard about MassMutual. However, it seems MM is nearly a Fortune 100 company (101). Glassdoor.com has excellent reviews and ratings. I will interview for an IT position. All I find online is nothing but good about MM, except that some people complain about Springfield as a city. 

I am wondering what's like working there.

I am an engineer with around three years of experience in technology and consulting companies. Currently, I am pursuing my MBA from US. I want to be a Marketing Strategist in a technology company. Being a non-marketing background Indian I am not finding many opportunities to directly enter this profile. Can anyone help me in framing my career path? I was wondering if Marketing Analytics will help me in this transition.

So here's the deal: Back in 2009, I was laid off from my 10 year job in the oil/gas industry. I disliked working in O&G and looked at the lay-off as my opportunity to start anew. 

After 22 mths of being unemployed, I took a job as a tech writer in the water/wastewater industry. I enjoyed that job and the type of writing it allowed me to do (more creative/journalistic) but the pay was so much less than I was accustomed to. I have another mouth to feed so I found it hard to survive off of such little pay. Therefore, I made the difficult decision to take another job in (you guessed it) O&G. 

I'm only 3 mths in at this job and I so dislike it. I can't stand my manager and all the corporate BS that comes w/working in O&G. 

I want to make a change to a different industry, doing writing that'll allow me to use and stretch my creative muscle as a writer. But I truly don't feel I'd make the type of money I need to survive on -- not in Houston anyway since this is an O&G town. 

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? 

Hello, I am new to this site. It has been very impressive since I never knew this kind of site existed. I am 26 years old, graduated from a community college two years ago with a degree in AAS Network Administrator no certs too costly. The IT field is outsourced on jobs and they aren't willing to hire a college graduate.

I didn't do internships in college because my school schedule didn't allow (it was hell trying to obtain the degree). I left school to look for internships, they were fickle. They wouldn't hire you unless you had previous work experience with a stable work history. I had a job in 2005 but it didn't last long because of scheduling conflicts preventing me from working there and I quit on bad terms.

It wasn't easy trying to find another job as they wouldn't hire you while you were taking public transportation. So, I gave up and stayed a student until I graduated. I was in an animal club (they didn't have a technology club for IT students) where I volunteered for one day on two different years. I can not use that because the volunteer manager only met us twice and don't know us personally.

Since then, I have not volunteered. The worst advice you can tell any job seeker who needs a paycheck to sustain a roof over their heads. I am not interested in free work as I made that very clear to professionals unless we make a contract agreement and you pay for me the work, period end of sentence. Any options?

I applied for an Analyst position in the Health Care group and am looking for an HR contact to follow up with. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

We're a small Tampa, Florida educational company http://funfactoryeducationcorp.com. We've recently been advised that one our products can be used by individuals [nationally], who buy it from us then donate it to churches and schools (only to non-profits), thus giving that buyer of our product the right to a charitable tax deduction. How can we best take advantage of this new feature for getting our product widely used? Is there an accountant network that we can join, whereby they could evaluate our program for their clients?
