New York, NY (April 29, 2009) - Vault, the web’s most comprehensive resource for career intelligence,
today announced the top 10 internships in America, as well as the best internship programs across a
number of industries and categories, such as best perks and most unusual experiences. The lists are
included in the
Vault Guide to Top Internships 2009 edition, an overview of more than 760 U.S.internship programs that includes employer information, hiring manager contact details, descriptions of
the type of work available, application deadlines and advice on getting hired.
The top 10 internships for 2009 are:
-
Electronic Arts
"These internships represent the best programs overall in the United States. They reflect the wide range
of programs available—from large corporations to research institutes—and each offers a unique and
educational intern experience," says Carolyn C. Wise, senior education editor at Vault and editor of the
Vault Guide to Top Internships
. "Having a great internship experience is just the beginning. No matterwhat you plan to do next, the skills you learn at one of these top programs will launch your career."
Vault’s editors chose the top internships based on a set of criteria that matter most to students and young
professionals: pay and perks, challenging work and “resume radiance” (the potential for impressing future
employers with a “big name” on your resume).
“During this economic environment and challenging hiring climate, internships are not just for students
anymore. Recent graduates are looking to internships more than ever to get their foot in the door at their
target company or in their target industry,” says Wise. “With this increased appeal of internships,
competition is fierce and it is more important than ever to be well informed before applying to a program.
We are pleased to offer the most complete collection of internship program information and hiring
advice.”
For the first time, Vault has added new top 10 lists focusing on specific industries and categories because
we recognize that internship programs can vary widely and can be difficult to compare. These new lists
include the "Best Perks" and "Most Unusual Experience"—categories that are important to prospective
interns. Among the "Best Perks" are: the Disney College Program, Garmin International, the Tribeca
Film Center and the White House. The "Most Unusual Experience" list includes: the Bermuda Institute
of Oceanic Sciences,
Canoe & Kayak Magazine, The Howard Stern Show and the Morris Arboretum.
Vault’s top 10 finance internships are:
-
Bain & Company
The top internships in the creative or liberal arts are:
-
American Repertory Theatre
