The McCombs School of Business structures its MBA around 10 core courses taken during the first three semesters of the full-time program. Students are not required to concentrate during their upper-level studies but can choose to specialize in one of 16 areas, such as energy finance, brand management or social enterprise. Many of McCombs' programs are particularly strong, including its marketing, entrepreneurship, information systems and accounting programs. In fact, the accounting program is ranked No. 1 in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Tracing its origins back to the University of Texas at Austin's department of business and commerce in the College of Arts, the McCombs School of Business has a long and respected history. The school draws a host of national recruiters from business hubs like New York City and San Francisco, as well as recruiters from across Texas. The school also maintains ties with Southwestern communities through its executive MBA programs in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and Mexico City. For students who want to get a foothold overseas, the school offers double MBA programs with overseas business schools, such as the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University and ESADE Business School in Barcelona.

Closer to home, McCombs invites students to integrate into the UT community, both academically and socially. The school administers nine dual degrees in collaboration with other UT graduate programs, ranging from law to Middle Eastern studies. McCombs also hosts events and student clubs for students on campus.
