When Ellis Morrow became head the department of commercial economics at the University of Western Ontario, he forged strong ties with his alma mater Harvard, determining that their case study method was the most effective for teaching business. Now the Ivey School of Business, business at UWO continues to be taught almost exclusively use the case study method. The school established Canada's first MBA program in 1948. Due to its strong presence in the country, graduates have strong prospects in Canada and recruiters come to campus from the consulting and banking industries.

Ivey's MBA program lasts one full calendar year, with the majority of the curriculum occupied by required core classes. In the latter half of the program, students can group their electives into focus areas such as health sector management and international management, or apply to participate in a consulting or new venture team project. Ivey also runs an accelerated program for students who earned their bachelor's at the school, and has executive MBA programs both at its main campus in Ontario and off site in Hong Kong.

While in school, Ivey students live both on campus and around the university. London is a mid, sized city, and most student social life is based on campus, with a particular concentration on student organizations and Greek life.
