Edinburgh Business School is part of Heriot,Watt University, the eighth oldest of the Royal Charter schools in the United Kingdom. In addition to the MBA, the school offers MS degrees in financial management, human resources management, marketing or strategic planning, as well as a doctorate of business administration. EBS students may earn their MBA on campus through its full,time and executive programs, or anywhere else in the world with their online, distance,learning programs or with approved partner schools.

EBS' full,time MBA program is completed in 12 months, and students can start in January or October. The program is based on seven core classes with an additional two elective courses. Students take classes six days a week in order to complete the accelerated schedule, and have the option of taking courses taught in Arabic, Chinese or Spanish. After completing three classes, students are also eligible for a postgraduate certificate or diploma in business administration.

Most graduates go on to jobs in the United Kingdom, though alumni have been known to find placement all over Europe and the United States. Because most students are distance learners, social life on campus is quiet even though the school offers on,campus housing for full,time participants.
