I was wondering what the 2 day interviews were like at BB&T for the LDP Program? Also, can anyone give me some insight on the salary range for the program and some suggestions for the interview. I would appreciate some insight from you guys who have been there before! thanks!

In August this year, I got a job at a mid level international strategy consulting firm. It was still in the middle of the crisis, the offer was OK and some other firms (more prestigious) were not hiring. Now I'm kind of satisfied with the firm (learning a lot, an training programme in place, working in very interntional teams, a fantastic culture and a very good boss). 

However. I could be getting much better pay for the same work at better firms, work with more people (our office is small), have more client exposure (we work mainly in the office, no travelling) and the range of the projects could be wider (we focus on PE). Plus, I don't necessarily like the city I live in (it's not the capital). 

Would these all be very good reasons to apply to other firms with the beginning of the year?

I meant: how would they look like in my cover letter?

PS: I live in Europe, in one of the few EU countries that experienced economic growth this year (actually, maybe the only one...).

-770 GMAT (49q, 48v, 6.0) 1st try
-BS from small highly regarded college
-4.00 GPA in finance major
-3.49 cumulative GPA (.007 shy of 3.5), upward trend each term
-Bilingual
-4.5 years of workex w/ two boutique investment firms, one American and one European. No gaps in employment history. Significant responsibility, promotions.
-Lacking Olympic medals but my CV is rather atypical (for the sake of brevity I will not elaborate).

I haven't made any applications for this cycle and I understand there is a slight disadvantage applying in R2. As a result, I am considering postponing my app a couple of years to complete a MSc Finance in Europe at a highly regarded university. I do not want to apply to the top programs in this very competitive year without giving myself every potential advantage by submitting as early as possible. I understand there is stigma plaguing reapps at the top schools that I obviously want to avoid. In short, I wish to apply as best I can the first and only time.

1-Would adcoms doubt my focus with a specialist MSc Finance degree before a general MBA? Would it be wiser to apply next year instead of waiting two years in order to finish the MSc? This would mean a more conventional bacherlor's + 5.5 years workex -> matriculation.

2-Would I maximize my chances by applying at 25 or by waiting until 27 w/ another year of international work experience and a year of grad coursework (w/ top grades)? Would my younger age carry more weight in the decision than my accomplishments in the next couple of years? Is it a mistake to avoid the MSc due to my UGPA? Would a strong grad academic record go a long way toward increasing my chances at the top programs? From this perspective, is it worth it to risk the "age factor" in order to strengthen overall transcript merit? I realize 27-8 would be suitable for some schools, particularly those outside of the US, but age is a hot topic nowadays so please humor me.

I am a graduate student, achieved 150-hours requirement, and applied for the entry-level Assurance Associate position for Fall 2010.  Recently got turned down after the 2nd round interview.  Really want to join PwC as it is a great company.  Do you think they will consider at all if I re-apply again next year, or am I pretty much blacklisted?

Would a canadian firm do the same job preparing me for a job interview or writing my resume as an american firm? I looked into a couple of firms that specialize with interview coaching and resume writing here in U.S and Canada. The only ones that stood out was www.vault.com and www.resumepass.com.  In the end it came down to price, I am student and need a job and want a prof resume. Anyone used a Canadian Firm before?  or Would use one for instance resumepass.com? Thanks in advance.

I'm really interested in how firms like Deloitte (Consulting!), Accenture, McKinsey, etc. are measuring and rewarding performance, especially in this economy. Are you still assigned counsellors who assist you in setting personal and career goals, is training / learning and development still happening in this firms? I have been applying to Liberty Mutual and have not gotten very far. I am a MBA student now and I was rejected via email within an hour of applying for an entry-level job requiring only a high school degree. Does anyone know what they are looking for and what I could do to get noticed?

Guys, I have been working at a fortune 50 company at a sr. IT manager level for 12+ years. Over the years, I have worked on multiple enterprise applications, Warehousing, BI, MDM, Pricing analytics domains. I have worked with software vendors and consulting companies... I wanted to switch to services industry to get broader exposure and hone some skills on sales and marketing side...two of the big 4 companies who offered me a job but are not at the same level as I am at right now in the industry. Though they are impressive with my technical, functional and leadership skills...they didn't offer me what I am looking for...Primary reason being, I don't have consulting experience... two questions... I) is it really that difficult to switch from IT industry to services industry? ii) how of this is b'cos of the economy and that there are a lot of people looking for jobs...

Appreciate any feedback from folks who made this switch or know/worked with someone who made the switch...Also, any pointers on how to sell myself better would be appreciated.
