Widely admired as the source of some of the most groundbreaking developments in the tech and music industries, Apple is behind the revolutionary iPod and iPhone. Interns work throughout the company's engineering, applications and finance departments and get to attend speaking events and participate in contests for Apple gear.
Citi Markets & Banking
The world's No. 2 financial advisor, Citi Markets & Banking has a longstanding client base of institutional investors, companies and goverments in more than 100 countries. The division offers its clients sales and trading, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, treasury and cash management services. Interns function as first-year analysts, and the intern program features training, a distinguished speaker series and social activities.
Google Inc.
Google has changed the way people search and sell with its signature search engine and ad programs. The company is constantly expanding its technological reach, covering everything from e-mail and blogs to online books and video. Interns frolic in the Googleplex, where perks abound (they enjoy free gourmet food, t-shirts, Tech Talks and social events, among other things), and their work experience is hands-on.
INROADS
INROADS, a nonprofit organization, is behind the country's largest corporate intern recruitment program for students of color. INROADS interns are selected for multi-year positions at the nation's leading corporations and Fortune 500 companies, including Target, United Technologies, Deloitte, MetLife, Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, Liberty Mutual and Ernst & Young. Over 60 percent of graduating INROADS interns receive and accept offers for full-time positions with sponsor companies each year.
Morris Arboretum
A public garden and the arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, the Morris Arboretum is a renowned center of education, horticulture, research and community outreach. Interns work with mentors in the Arboretum's gardens, education programs and in the fields of arboriculture, horticulture, Pennsylvania flora, plant propagation and protection and urban forestry.
National Institutes of Health
Recognized as the world's largest biomedical research institution, the National Institutes of Health is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NIH interns work with scientists on research projects that explore everything from cancer and infectious diseases to child health, drug abuse and the human genome.
Northwestern Mutual Financial Network
Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, named America's Most Admired Company in the insurance category by Fortune, provides personalized financial services for individuals' insurance, investment management and financial needs. The company's program is rigorous -- interns must pass a state licensing exam -- and interns get the opportunity to work as independent financial representatives while mentors look on.
PricewaterhouseCoopers
The world's largest financial services firm, PwC specialized in assurance, advisory and tax, and private company services. The firm takes intern recruitment very seriously: the majority of interns go from the internship to PwC's Intern Development Program at Disney World and on to full-time employment.
XM Radio
A pioneer in digital radio service, XM Satellite Radio offers over 170 digital radio channels, encompassing everything from music to news to talk. XM interns rave about the company's events and perks (including live concerts and the chance to pitch a show).
