Admission & Application Survey
Full-time Ph.D. program Initally, an application, transcripts, GRE scores and a personal statement were required. Only the general GRE was required, but subject exams in the sciences were considered a plus. In the personal statement, applicants were asked to describe their reasons for applying to a particular program. The interview involved meeting with about 6 professors for about 30 minutes each. Each professor had his/her own style of interviewing. Following acceptance, applicants are invited for a second interview and given the opportunity to meet with the professors whose research interests them. As for advice on getting in - it is a good idea to contact some professors that you are interested in before applying and discuss their research with them.
