The social life at Yale rocks! I have friends at many other business
schools (HBS, Columbia, Wharton, and NYU) and they do not come close to
matching us in terms of fun. The small size of the class ensures an
intimate environment where one can make friends really fast and get to
know almost all of one's classmates by name at the least. The business
school students party not only amongst themselves, but also with law
school students, med school students, nursing school students, and
undergrads! New Haven is a college town with many schools (Quinnipiac,
Southern CT State, Wesleyan) in the area and being a Yale MBA can be a
huge boon with most undergrads from other schools (and Yale
undergrads). The last business school party I went to was a "wife-
beater party" which reminded me of the movie "Animal House." By the end
of the night, we had to drive home several inebriated undergrads who
had wandered over to the house-party. The house-party scene is big, but
the bar scene is even more popular. Toad's Place (a New Haven legend),
Bar, and Gypsy (the graduate student bar open only to Yalies and very
popular with the business, law, and medical schools) are some business
school favorites. Every now and then, we Yalies venture over to NYC to
raise hell on the town (after all, it's only a short train ride away)
but the New Haven scene is happening enough to even keep native
Manhattanites in New Haven.
