Winston-Salem, NC is a family-friendly community of approximately
200,000 people. Accordingly, crime rates are extremely low, and housing
is much cheaper than competing urban areas. Although there are limited
options for nightlife as compared to "college towns," there are numerous
good restaurants, and the presence of the NC School of the Arts provides
Winston-Salem with a regular calendar of cultural activities.
Additionally, the student government association and the school's other
extracuricular organizations regularly hold happy hours and tailgates as
well as other social and volunteer events to provide relaxing social
outlets for the entire community and their families.
