Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The admissions process at Vanderbilt MBA program was painless. I was
able to go just call the office and request information. The adcom was
very responsive and they added a personal touch by having their Ass't
Director of Admissions call me to talk about the process. Vandy's
strength during this time is their attention to providing a very
positive impression to applicants. They held a Preview Weekend for
prospective students, a Diversity Weekend for diversity prospective
students, Scholar's Weekend for those who qualify for an outstanding
amount of sholarship tuition, and Welcome Weekend for those who have
been accepted. All these weekends are hosted at Owen with a full plate
of information sessions, workshops, and ability to interview with the
staff. I believe students find these weekends most valuable as they are
able to mingle with current first and seconds years as well as interact
with potential future classmates. For serious applicants, attending one
of these weekends is a must. The adcom places a tremendous amount of
value on student visits as they value getting to know you during an
interview and seeing you behave as a possible admittant in action.
Also, the food is always first class. Something that is less and less
available to students after they enroll.
Essays are very similar to other programs, so one will be able to re-use
essays from other programs with minor tweaks.
Selectivity is relatively low compared with other programs, although,
the adcom does a very good job of admiting students who fit within
the "Vanderbilt" culture.
