Admission & Application Survey |

The admissions committee utilizes students to review the applications,
so if you can speak with someone on the McCombs Admissions Committee
(MAC) it can be beneficial in finding out details of what they are
searching for in their applicants. The school has implemented a policy
to try to interview the majority of admitted students, so this is
a "must" if you want to show you are really interested in the program.
The essays have changed this year as well, and I advise NOT writing on
the question regarding a quality about yourself. I have heard very
negative feedback so far about those who have attempted this essay.
Choose one of the other optional questions. Also, the new strategy per
the Dean of the Business School is to find students who are easily
placed in top corporate firms. Therefore, they are looking to recruit
the majority of students from those with backgrounds already with these
types of companies as well as those looking for these types of
positions in order to boost the placement ratings. Because of this I
would encourage an applicant to stress that they are finance or
marketing focused and looking to work at one of the leading firms in
that industry after graduation - even if you are looking to do
something else. However, the program is really transitioning to only
accommodate students fitting this profile, so McCombs may not be the
best school for you if you are thinking about a different career path
after graduation. If you're GMAT score is high you will have a much
better chance of entrance as well regardless of your essays.
