Admission & Application Survey |
| Full time MBA |
This year onwards they have made significant changes to the admissions
process. GMAT will be de-emphasised as a parameter of admission,
interviews will be made compulsory and they will place more emphasis on
the quality of your work experience. So for all of you with significant
amount of work experience under your belt, chill out. The admissions
staff is quite friendly; in fact students play a significant part in
the admissions process doing most of the shortlisting of applicants.
The essays are around Why an MBA, why now and what value will you offer
to the school. They are pretty straightforward; i would however advice
one to be open about your goals in life - no matter what they are; the
school appreciates diversity and the actively follow up with the school
on the status of the application. Research your interests and why you
think McCombs is a good fit for you. Talk to current or ex-students on
what they liked and did not like about the school. Come to the school
and attend classes - they really value your interest here. It is a
pretty competetive process especially for internationals. International
students constitute 30% of the class - one of the highest anywhere.
The one thing i would have the school change is that since this is a
public school, Texans constitute 40% of the incoming MBA class. I would
have them get more non Texan US students.
