Most students in the MBA program were already employed and simply used to the
program to take the next step in their careers. Several companies used UTD as way
to train high potential employees. Since I worked outside the Telecom industry
and was not an engineer by trade I was an outsider. Several companies routinely
recruited from UTD including Nokia and Texas Instruments. UTD competes with SMU
for Dallas companies. Since it is regional and really localized career prospects
outside the Dallas area were unlikely. The career placement center was useful
especially for resume review and normal employment resources.
