Admission & Application Survey |

Ranked by both US News and Businessweek as nation's top 20 business
school, Marshall School of Business values professional experience
(generally students have 5-7 years of quality work experience),
excellent letters of recommendation, GMAT score (weighting more on
quantitative), and GPA (weighting more on the last two years of
undergraduate work).
Prospect students with not-so-fancy GPAs still have chances of getting
in as grades are viewed as more subjective measures of success than
real-life experience, which applicants are encouraged to detail the
challenges encountered, actions taken, and the results in the essay and
backed by the letters of recommendation. GMAT score on the other hand
is weighted more than GPA, as it's a trusted indictor of a student's
performance in graduate school. Equally strong performance in both
verbal & quantitative is preferred, followed by stronger quantitative.
Applicants should aim to score higher to compensate the lower
counterpart.
Interview is not required as part of the admission process. Considered
it a good sign if you are called upon for an interview, this is your
opportunity to show all your valuable attributes.
As far as selectivity, Marshall generally likes to attract students
with typical MBA backgrounds in industries like financial, consulting,
and accounting. To enhance its diversity, Marshall also recruits
students from entertainment, healthcare, and energy industries.
Lastly, Marshall has put in more efforts in trying to recruit high-
quality female students in the recent years, as they are still
considered minority in most top business schools.
