There are way too many social things at Simon to do than the average
student will have time for. Every Thursday night there were Happy
Hours. There were events such as Scotch Tasting, Wine Tasting, Beer
Tasting. Being in upstate NY, there was always an opportunity to go
skiing or to a Buffalo Bills football game trip. I went to Niagra
Falls a couple of times and it truly is something that everyone should
see in their lives. Having a #1-in-the-nation ranked music school
(Eastman School of Music) in the University of Rochester helped put a
couple of concerts on Simon students' calendars.
I took road trips (2 hours) to Toronto - a Simon student thing to do -
to get a fix of a huge city. There was a Broaden Your Horizons series
where a group of students that hail from a country would put together a
fun, 45-minute multi-media presentation and acting skit of their
country. There were about four or five a year - and it was great to
further learn about different cultures beyond the 45% international
student body.
There are strips of restaurants and bars so going out drinking for
those who enjoy that is easy. From Dean's Happy Hours, student
organization meetings, Dance Balls, parties and get-togethers there
really was too much free food and beer. I gained ten pounds during my
second year - and I edited the amount of events that I attended!
