There are a couple bars near campus that different groups would co-
ordinate happy-hours. These were always fun, but I found that these
were the only times I socialized outside of the classroom. My wife and
I participated in the Partners Club, and we've actually kept many of
our friendships built from the club, as there are at least a dozen
couples from the club, who are living and working in NYC metro area
here with us.
