Quality of Life Survey |

Rochester has about 1 million people in its city. It is basically a
white-collar town and crime is extremely low. I lived in NYC for 28
years before attending Simon, and one of the big decision-making points
for me was to have a high quality of life for my two years, which
Rochester more than delivered.
I was never in a traffic jam in Rochester because they don't exist.
Rochester has repeatedly be ranked in the top ten in Friendliest Cities
to live by Money magazine. Rochester is a mere hour-long flight to
major cities such as New York, Boston, Toronto, Cleveland, Washington
DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia so interviewing for the day at one of
these cities was a piece of cake.
Housing was a non-issue as a Simon student. There is an abundance
university housing as well as housing in the city. I elected to live
off campus in a fun area called Park Avenue (cafe's with outdoor
seating, bars, restaurants, shopping, etc). The cost of living was
outrageously LOW. It is a very economical choice.
The year that I left, the University of Rochester built a $1 million
state-of-the-art fitness center. It is the largest gym that I ever
frequented. It truly is awesome. The Simon school also built a $4
million wing to its Business School building. In the wing there are
suites for Corporate Recruiters to use as interview rooms, changing
rooms or even to stay connected and do work. The entire building as
well as the wing is on a wireless LAN.
