Admission & Application Survey |
| Full Time MBA |
The admission process, while very detailed, was a pleasure because of
the pleasant personalities with whom you deal. Many other business
schools that I visited before making my decision behaved as if they
couldn't be bothered with making someone feel at home.
Having worked for the Admissions office during my second year, I
learned quite a few things. The essays are extremely important, and
are usually the deal breaker even if all else is okay. The most
important question that admission folks asked themselves as it pertains
to a candidate is, "Will the Simon MBA help this person excel in their
chosen field and path?" I have seen many otherwise qualified
candidates not admitted because they fail at this question.
GMAT scores are important, but not at the expense of other categories.
In other words, there is a minimum level of all criteria that needs to
be achieved. A 690 GMAT score does not necessarily make up for a 2.1
undergrad GPA.
Simon has a unique Simon Ambassadors program, which I ran during my
second year. The program matches prospective students who visit the
school with a current student with similar backgrounds as their hosts.
This helped make the visit to the school more insightful to the
candidate because the candidate can then speak one-on-one with a
student who may represent future success for that candidate.
