The social aspects are similar to other colleges. UNCC has a very
competitive basketball team and they occasionally make it to the the
NCAA national championship tournament. They have plenty of men's and
women's sports teams, although they do not have a football team yet.
UNCC is more a part of Charlotte as compared to some campuses where the
city is more a part of and reliant on the college. As such, the
restaurants, bars, etc. are more city focussed than campus focused and
tend to be near or in commercial areas like malls and down town
Charlotte. A local campus favorite hangout is the Graduate Pub, although
there are several other hang-outs near campus. Many students go to
downtown Charlotte as well.
