Chapel Hill is a fantastic town. It's small enough to get to know
easily, but big enough to offer a nice selection of types of housing,
social events, arts, and extra-ciricular activities. It's very
accessible to the Research Triangle and Raleigh. This lets you blend
the small-town feel of Chapel Hill with the metropolitan vibe of the
nearby cities.
Chapel Hill is not cheap, but it's certainly not as expensive as Boston,
New York, or Palo Alto.
The restaurant scene in the area is solid and continues to get better
all the time. In addition to the student-oriented places you'd expect,
there's a vibrant restaurant community that consistently pushes itself
to new heights.
The North Carolina beaches and mountains are each 2-3 hours from Chapel
Hill. This allows for quick escapes to some very pretty, peaceful areas.
North Carolina athletics, particularly basketball, are a fundamental
component of the Chapel Hill pathos. With the Dean Smith Center
literally steps away from the business school it's easy switch from
hammering out a class project to chearing for one of the country's top
basketball programs in mere minutes.
