Admission & Application Survey
Full-time MBA program UNC's admissions process focusses equally on academic record, professional achievement, and fit with the program. In examining an applicant's academic record, the school is looking at grades, course load, and standardized test scores. In examining professional achievement, the school is looking for demonstrated success in positions that require leadership, business accumen, and/or general intellectual horsepower. The school uses a body of essays and an interview to assess personal fit with the program. The admissions committee is looking for a strong aptitude and appetite for team work, ability to communicate clearly and in a compelling fashion, diverse background experiences, and a drive for excellence. My advice on demonstrating fit with the school through the essays & interviews is to simply be yourself. If your personality, interests, and perspectives are in line with the program then it will show through naturally. If you're out of sync with the program then it's best for all parties to discover it as early as possible and avoid two awkward years in a program that's not well suited for you.
