Obviously, recruiting is a critical element of Chicago GSB. Because of its
finance-savvy and quant reputation, Chicago attracts recruiters far and wide.
Recruiting can be a stressful time at Chicago -- given the heavy work load and
the natural "go-get-em" attitude of the student body. The benefit is that
coming
from Chicago provides an edge given the prestige of the GSB and the number of
alumni working in high profile companies.
All in all, Chicago understands that recruiting is one of the most important
aspects of the GSB - and for a few months, this priority is made clear with
professors, staff and students all balancing the demands of academics with the
realities of recruiting.
For students not destined for banking, consulting, or a finance related
position, the hunt can be a bit more difficult. The career placement office
knows its clientele well -- and most students find positions with the companies
that come to campus. However, if your search takes you to a less-trodden path
such as small business start ups, the career office will try to be helpful, but
much of the leg work is up to you.
