ADMISSIONS PROCESS:
Chicago GSB does a great job at running a "very involved" admissions
process. Candidates are given ample exposure to professors, current
students, alumni, classes, student groups, etc. The process is intended
to be fairly transparent -- providing candidates with a fair and
accurate view of life at the GSB.
GETTING IN:
As a very quant-oriented school, everyone can brag about their numbers.
Candidates that really stand out are those that have substance beyond
the numbers. Although necessary, don't count on a stellar GMAT (or
other "numbers") to get you in. Spend time on your essays -- they can
be read by up to 5 people. Prepare for your interview -- Alumni are
very proud of the GSB and don't appreciate being considered second-class
to Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, or Stanford. Think about the unique
qualities of the GSB and why those appeal to you (And if you don't know
the unique qualities of the GSB -- be sure to ask your interviewer!).
