Tulane is a regional school and that is where its strengths lie. If you want to
work in the South, then come here. The majority of the companies that come to
campus are from the south or are recruiting for the South. However, there are
plenty of people that secure jobs and internships in other geographical regions.
The key is your persistence and willingness to network. The career management
office is improving with the hire of a new director. There is a renewed effort
by the office with the new direction it has. There has definitely been more job
listings this year than last year. The quality of companies has also improved
dramatically. Employeers know that they can find good candidates at Tulane,
however, many are reluctant to come recruit because of the lack of critical mass.
This places greater importance on networking given the current state of the
economy.
