This is the area Freeman needs to work on, and the staff knows it but
hasn't made a tremendous amount of headway recently. The horrible economy
certainly hasn't helped their efforts.
On-campus recruiting is better so far this year than last year. The best
opportunities are for finance people, because Freeman has such
a strong rep in this area. Several major banks and investment houses interview
on
campus for both full-time and internship positions.
The other disciplines--marketing, ISDS, etc.--are not as well served. Basically,
if you want a job/internship in one of these areas, you'll probably have to find
it yourself. The big consumer-goods companies don't come to campus. Networking
is
therefore essential. I found my internship through the career-placement office,
but it was a last-minute opportunity--as were many of the internships my
classmates found.
Alumni can be helpful--they almost uniformly have good memories of the school
and a high opinion of the students.
