Admission & Application Survey
EMBA There was a lot of networking involved. If you're lucky, your company will pay for your tuition which can be costly. More than likely, the students who are sponsored come from strong math backgrounds and are/were engineers. My class was quite well-rounded with women comprising roughly 35% and there were several classmates who came from non-technical/non-engineering backgrounds. This made classroom discussion lively and certainly more practical. Who you know is important with Tulane's EMBA. It's not just if you can pay the money. I knew of several students who did not get in because of their age, lack of experience, or simply a poor interview. For me, I called the office to inquire and a first interviewed was arranged with the Assistant Executive Director. I filled out an application following my interview and then met with the Executive Director. Personality counts. Being articulate and effectively communicating why the MBA will be of value certainly count in the interviewing process and serve as a reminder when times get tough during the program. A special note: I was in another competitive EMBA program and dissatisfied after 6+ months of study. Tulane found my complaints interesting, especially with relation to their marketing efforts.
