Social Life Survey
Full time MBA The social life at Thunderbird is nothing short of amazing. The school is entirely compromised of MBA and executive ed. participants so it's a very stimulating environment. The school is also somewhat isolated in a suburb of Phoenix which forces students to really bond and get to know each other. This is the most invaluable part of your education - the people that you build lifelong friendships with. The famous Thunderbird pub is the focus of social life. With cheap drinks and international beers on tap, Thursday and Friday nights are something to be seen. In general eveyone knows everyone and is very friendly. The international students and American students mix very well, not forming clicks like on some other campuses. Also due to the ability to start at one of 3 different times during the year, and all of the overseas internship and study opportunities there is a new mix of people on campus every 4 months. This is nice b/c you don't get tired of the people you started with, and don't move through the program in lock-step fashion. For this reason you can meet even more people from around the world. Some students venture to Scottsdale to go out to the bars there, but it is 40 mins. away so many stay close to campus where other than the pub, parties and socializing abound. Some married students, or non-drinkers might have more trouble mixing, but even then there are cultural nights and zillions of clubs to join to meet people. If you don't leave Thunderbird with 20 new best friends that are the most amazing people you've ever met you've not tried hard enough. And again I can't emphasize that the diversity of the students make social life. You can sit and discuss Al Quada with a Pakistani and Indian who worked in the government before Thunderbird. You'll meet people that worked in Mongolia and Africa before school. You'll meet people that speak 5 languages and have lived all over the world. This network is the most amazing part of the school and everyone is accepting of everyone's differences. Muslim, mormon, Tiwanese, Israli it doesn't matter everyone gets along and leans from one another.
