It is a much cheaper cost of living in Arizona. Which means bigger
apartments, students with pools in their houses, and lots and lots of
strip-malls, with oodles of restaurant chains. When I first arrived to
campus, I thought I was in a resort - you can swim in the clean pool
almost all year round. Not many non-students actually come on campus so
crime is normally a loud party in the dorms. However, there has been
some theft, so it is important to make sure your windows are locked. As
a woman, it is safe to traverse the campus at all hours. Campus safety
is friendly and always whipping around in golf carts. The campus gym is
horrible, but for $20 a month, you can join the local YMCA, which is on
campus, which has very decent facilities with aerobic classes. Campus
dinging tastes like campus dining. You're forced to buy a meal plan if
you live on campus - but there are no kitchens on campus, so for those
without a car, campus dining it is. They used to have excellent Taco
Salads, but one trimester the quality just plummeted. There is normally
some type of regional night where you can get free ethnic food at least
once a week. The star of the whole campus is the Pub - an on campus bar
with pool tables, and cheap drinks (considering the cost of some other
places).
