Residence Life Campus living is an exciting educational experience.
Southern New Hampshire University is committed to maintaining an
environment that will provide opportunities to grow, to learn, to accept
adult responsibilities, to make intelligent choices, to foster
friendships and to increase self awareness. University housing includes:
Residence Halls Consist mainly of double rooms in suites with various
capacities; students share a common lounge and bath. Furnished with
desks, chairs, beds, drapes and wardrobes. Townhouses and Apartments
Consist of four and six person accommodations; students share a common
kitchen, living room and bath. Furnished with desks, chairs, beds,
drapes, wardrobes, living room and kitchen furniture, as well as a stove
and refrigerator. Students must provide their own pots, pans, glasses,
plates and silverware. Juniors and seniors usually reside in the
apartments and townhouses; freshmen and sophomores are usually assigned
to residence halls. Wellness Housing The university's speciality housing
consists of Wellness Housing. The goal of Wellness Housing is to sustain
a housing option for students who desire a substance free residence
area. These students are also provided with the opportunity of
maintaining a lifestyle that supports positive life choices. Residence
Directors Each area is administered by a Residence Director who is a
live-in professional staff member who supervises the student Resident
Assistant staff. The Residence Director coordinates hall programming for
the development of community, acts as a liaison for offices that provide
support services for the resident students and provides referral to
students in need of personal assistance. Residency Requirements The
university requires students in the undergraduate schools and CLE
programs to reside in university housing for a minimum of two of their
school's semesters or terms. Married students and students living with a
parent or legal guardian are exempt from this policy. Graduate school
students are not required to reside in university housing, however, if
they do request and are assigned a residence, they are committed for two
terms. Being admitted to the university is not a guarantee of a
residence assignment. Students are assigned residence on an annual basis
and are not guaranteed on-campus residence through graduation. Southern
New Hampshire University Dining Service Is Unique Because: all meal
plans are a la carte to provide a varied selection of foods at all
locations the student has control over the amount of money used and how
money is spent the student is charged only for the foods purchased We
strive to keep the health and welfare of the students first and foremost
in our planning. We encourage our students to eat a well- balanced diet
which includes selections from the four basic food groups. We offer as
wide a variety as possible and strive to please. We are aware that there
are many different backgrounds among our students so we encourage your
input and suggestions. We are also aware that eating three meals a day
with several hundred other students can be a trying experience for many,
however, fine social relationships as well as new and lasting
friendships can be gained by dining together. Students that have special
dietary needs or require special diet including kosher, Muslim, low
cholesterol, low calorie and vegetarian diets are encouraged to meet
with the food service directors to discuss their individual needs. At
Southern New Hampshire University, safety is everyone's business.
Students, faculty and staff are partners in creating an atmosphere which
is safe and encourages learning. We take many common sense precautions
to keep the campus safe, and we count on your cooperation and attention
to maintain this safe environment. University Offices Academic Affairs
