The Career Planning Center (CPC) is great. Unfortunately, the school was
overdependent during the early part of the decade on energy firms. This has
changed, and the CPC has gone to great extents to diversify the recruiting firms.
All the major firms recruit in some way at Rice, including BCG, McKinsey,
Deutsche Bank, Lehmen, JP Morgan, Hewlett Packard, AIG, Air Liquide,
ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, E&Y, Delloitte, Johnson & Johnson,
etc. etc. A great number of energy focus for recruiting firms however.
The CPC works on a one-on-one basis with each student. They go out of their way
to introduce students to firms and leaders at firms. Those students who show a
lot of effort get extra help from the school for their job search.
The MBA program has a lot of connections within Texas as well as across the
country. Many students have had special opportunities to meet people in a small
group with people such as Warren Buffett, managing directors from investment
banks, Ford CFO Gilmour, etc.
