Purdue is very famous for its engineering programs. Krannert is very
strong in Operations (top 3), so a strong engineering or scientific
background is welcomed. Besides Operations, its E-business and Finance
are also ranked high. Marketing is kind of weak. If you want to be
specilized in HR or Industrial Administration , Krannert offers MSHRM
and MSIA programs. Krannert also offers a program called "GISMA"
(German International Graduate School of Management and
Administration). Full-time student can apply for a semester study in
Germany. Visit www.mgmt.purdue.edu for more detailed information.
Essays do not need to be very long. Short but get to the point is
probably better. Make sure there is no grammar errors or too many long
sentences. Have more than 5 people read it and give your suggestions.
Try to be innovative; make yourself stand out of the hundreds of
applicants is the key.
If you are invited to an on-site interview, don't be panic. It is a
very good opportunity to present yourself. Be relax but be prepared.
Go to the website and learn as much as you can. Before the interview,
take a trip on campus. Even talk with students on the road. Observe
the buildings, people, or maybe the weather so that you will have good
and interesting questions to ask the interviewers. (Make sure you ask
questions!) Usually you will interview with 4 to 5 people. They may
have same or similar questions. Answer them no matter how many times
you are asked and answer them with your passion. Always be positive but
remain sincerity with the answers. Smile to everybody; keep eye contact
when talking. Of course, dress professionally. No jeans!
Krannert has a very diverse enviornment. Your classmates are from
everywhere in the world. There you can deeply understand
what "International" means and teamwork is always the rule.
