Like all top business schools, Kellogg is a school best attended if you are
looking to find a job somewhere in Chicago or the Midwest. Like most top 5
schools, the career center also has a pretty good national reach. Trips to the
Bay Area and the East Coast to make career contacts are formally organized for
those who opt for the independent job search (being centrally located near
Chicago helps with travel). Of course, all the usual top consulting, banking,
and marketing firms recruit at Kellogg through the conventional means.
Unfortunately, Kellogg continues to benefit and suffer from its strong reputation
as a marketing school with employers. The bad news is less informed employers
tend to believe Kellogg grads are less quantitative than those of other top
schools (quite untrue!), but the good news is that finance jobs tend to be less
competitive. Career placement resources are excellent.
