Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The Admissions process at Kellogg has had some issues in the past but
is getting much stronger. I have heard many anecdotal tales of
student's deciphering the "status change" message on the internet and
also hearing about admissions status way past the stated deadline.
However, my process was fairly smooth and I loved that Kellogg
Admissions not only calls you, but also fves now is to make
the process better and better (we have a new Dean of Admissions, etc)
and personalize the experience even more.
Kellogg is extremely selective in admitting students and the caliber
of students here is high. The interview is very important since
culture is such an important part of the school. It is a very team-
based school with a "touchy-feely" reputation and it lives up to that.
People here are extremely nice to each other and while personalities
are generally competitive, the atmosphere is collaborative. Interviews
on campus not only show interest in the school (especially if you fly
in for it) but also get you in front of students chosen to be on the
Admissions committee or Admissions department staff. In the interview,
stress leadership (another extremely important part of Kellogg), team-
work and initiative. The school is literally student-run so being
driven to make an impact is critical.
Essays are also important. When I applied, I had decent GMAT scores,
decent grades from a well-ranked undergrad (Ivy), and good consulting
experience. I believe I made up the difference in the essays. Write
and rewrite!! Stress leadership, conflict resolution and teamwork but
do so in a humble manner to show that while you have tons to contribute
to the b-school environment, you also are willing to learn a lot more.
