Quality of Life Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
Coming to NY City from California, I made a big compromise in the
quality of life. I paid a huge premium renting a tiny studio in the
city (and a decent neighborhood). Rent is astronimical and students
should take that into consideration before applying. While people in
NY term NYC as the greatest city in the world, I think otherwise. Yes,
the subway system is extremely convenient, but the condition should
make all New Yorkers embarrass, especially those who have been to other
subway systems around the world (London, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Milan, you name it) Most neighborhoods in Manhattan are
safe, but outside of Manhattan is a different story. Although the
crime rate has gone way down recently, it is still not one of the
safest cities in the world. On campus housing is very expensive.
Students pay north of $1,200 per month to share a one bedroom
(sometimes with an undergraduate in film who doesn't sleep until 4am!)
As for dining, NYC is one of the most convenient places in the world.
Lots of restaurants and night life, but it can be costly. Taxis are
everywhere, so are the mean and dangerous cab drivers. You have to tip
them no matter what.
