Jobs are plently, especially in finance and consulting. NYU is generally
recognized as a finance school, but people do get lots of consulting offers from
the top firms (McKinsey, BCG and the like). Because of its part-time program and
location, Stern has good wall street connection. Instead of taking a flight from
Chicago or a train from Philadelphia, students at Stern usually take the N,R
subway to meet with prospective Wall Street employers, and that's a big plus. I
got my internship and full time job via career placement center, and the staff
are generally helpful. Opportunities are plenty in finance and consulting, but
students seeking general management jobs will also find Stern a good choice
because of the school's location. Unfortunately, students who are looking for
jobs in the west coast will have a hard time, as the school's connection with big
west coast firms (Microsoft, Cisco, Intel)is not strong. While they do come to
school for on-campus recruiting, the number is not significant. Again, NYU has
good reputation and connection on Wall Street, but employers do realize the
uneven qualities of its student body. Competing with Columbia for the best and
the brightest, NYU offers both 1 year and full scholarship to attract students
and employers do know that.
