Academics Survey |
| Full-time MBA program |
The first semester consisted of a "core" comprised of the standard
business school subjects (finance, marketing, accounting,
communications, microeconomics, strategy, organizations, statistics and
decisions). Lecturers in gereral were enthusiastic and
approachable. The lectures were well prepared and presented. Notes and
course packs were also of decent quality. Homeworks and exams were
graded efficiently and, in general, fairly.
The work-load was quite heavy, and from conversations
with students at other schools it would seem to be heavier than most.
There was a strong emphasis on written assignments with often 5 or
more "problem sets" due in a week.
Following the core, there was a wide range of courses available across
the institute. It was also possible to cross register for courses in
Harvard Business School, Kennedy School etc. Admission to the
popular courses was tight. Allocations were made on the basis of an
auction system in which every student was allocated a certain number of
points with which to bid for courses. If you missed a course in first
year preference would be given when you tried again in 2nd year.
