This can be very easily split into good and bad points.
Good first (of course!)
- The London Advantage. London is a massive job market, as is the entire
european market. If you have your heart set on a career, you will find
opportunities for it here for sure.
- If you want to go into banking or consulting, LBS is a great brand name and
has great contacts with employers who recruit extensively on campus (both for
internships and for full-time jobs)
- The brand name generally is a great door-opener. LBS commands a lot of respect
in the UK and increasingly globally.
Now the bad...
- Really, if you want to go into industry, you need to find your own luck. There
are some companies that come on campus, put given the location of the school, we
should be
beating them back with a stick, which sadly is not the case in thsi economy.
- The school is putting a lot of effort into organising mock interviews and
crack a case sessions, but the reality is that we are still comparatively
under-prepared when we go into interviews. Again, this is being addressed, but
from what I understand about US schools, we are quite far behind still.
Overall, it's positive, but really depends on what you want to do. If you lack
initiative, don't expect someone to serve you a job on a plate.
though.
