Kent is an inexpensive city to live in and can be ok without a car,
although most services (grocery stores, office depot, etc) are located
away from downtown and campus. There is a natural foods store, stores
selling decorative items and books, few clothes, a drugstore,
restaurants and several bars in the downtown area. Shopping is
available at nearby malls, most restaurants are pretty casual in the
area, and there are lots of events on or off campus. The Graduate
Student Senate often puts on events are local bars/eateries with free
food or discounts on beer at BW-3 or Ray's. There are also occasional
gatherings put on by the Graduate Management Association (GMA)
specifically for MBA students, such as a holiday dinner, picnics, an
international potlach, etc. One can be as social or reserved as they
choose.
